Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS)

(U.S. government) A U.S. government agency attached to the U.S. Department of Agriculture which has the responsibility of inspecting and certifying animals, plants and related products for import to or export from the United States. APHIS is also responsible for the inspection of animal and plant product processing facilities both in the United States and in countries that export to the United States.
