Automated Targeting System

(United States) A U.S. Customs and Border Protection program designed to assist Customs officers in identifying imports which pose a high risk of containing narcotics, terrorist weapons, and other contraband. The system standardizes bill-of-lading, entry, and entry summary data received from the Automated Commercial System (ACS) and creates integrated records called “shipments”. These shipments are evaluated and scored through the use of over 300 weighted rules derived from targeting methods used by experienced Customs personnel.
