Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS or D-U-N-S) Number

(commerce) A company numbering and identification system developed and maintained by Dunn & Bradstreet Corporation (Web: www.dnb.com). The standard DUNS nine-digit universal identification number is particular to a specific listed company. The DUNS+4 number uniquely identifies an affiliate, subsidiary or division of a listed company.
DUNS number company identifiers are recognized, recommended or required by more than 50 global, industry and trade associations, including the United Nations, the U.S. Federal Government, the Australian Government and the European Commission.
