(shipping/law) The act of transferring physical possession, such as the transfer of property from consignor to carrier, one carrier to another, or carrier to consignee.
(Incoterms 2010) The physical point where “the risk of loss or damage passes from the seller to the buyer.” This is often the “named port or place” but not necessarily the buyer’s place of business.
