emergency currency adjustment factor (ECAF)

(logistics) A freight surcharge or adjustment factor imposed by an international carrier to compensate for sustained or rapid fluctuations in foreign currency exchange rates. The ECAF is charged as a percentage of the published rate. See currency adjustment factor.
