Exaction

A fee or contribution demanded or levied by a government entity or by an individual or group in a position of power. Examples of exactions can include illegal “tolls” on public roads by outlaw police and army units in Third World countries, to harbor maintenance fees and antidumping fees collected by government authorities in First World industrialized countries.
