free of particular average (FPA)

(insurance) A clause in an insurance policy that provides that in addition to total losses, partial losses resulting from perils of the sea are recoverable, but only in the event that the carrying vessel has stranded, sunk, burnt, been on fire or been in collision. See average; particular average; general average; with average; deductible average.
