International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (INTELSAT)

Created in 1964 under a multilateral agreement, INTELSAT was originally a nonprofit cooperation of countries from around the world that jointly owned and operated a global communications satellite system serving the world. Currently, INTELSAT is a private corporation with a global fleet of 21 satellites (with plans to launch an additional seven), and offers wholesale Internet, broadcast, telephony and corporate network solutions to leading service providers in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.
