(law) An individual, company or organization that grants a license. A licensor owns or has the rights to license intellectual property such as a copyright, patent or trademark. Examples of intellectual property licenses include foreign language translation rights for books, local manufacturing rights for pharmaceuticals, or use of a well-known brand name and logo in a specific market.
