(trade policy) The new designation for Most Favored Nation (MFN) trading status. Although the name has changed, the privileges remain the same. (U.S. trade policy) With controversy surrounding giving Most Favored Nation status to China, it was decided that for political reasons the designation would change to Normal Trade Relations. Countries with MFN/NTR status enjoy preferred import tariff rates on goods exported to the U.S.
