offer

(law) A proposal that is made to a certain individual or legal entity to enter into a contract, that is definite in its terms, and that indicates the offeror’s intent to be bound by an acceptance. For example, an order delivered to a seller to buy a product on certain terms is an offer, but an advertisement sent to many potential buyers is not. See acceptance; counteroffer.
