United States Department of Labor (DOL)

(U.S. government) An executive department which promotes and develops the welfare of U.S. wage earners, improves working conditions, and advances opportunities for profitable employment. The DOL keeps track of changes in employment, prices, and other national economic measures. Organizations under the Department include the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Employment and Training Administration, the Employment Standards Administration, Labor-Management Standards, the Mine Safety and Health Administration, Occupational Safety and Health, and the Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration.
