FlavorCloud CEO on Why Country of Origin Drives Peak Season Profits

As retailers head into peak season, the same product can carry a very different tariff bill depending on where it was made. In a new Q&A with Sourcing Journal, FlavorCloud founder and CEO Rathna Sharad explains why country of origin has become the deciding factor in landed cost and margin.

Rathna describes the challenge of making sourcing decisions months in advance while tariffs, freight, currency and customs requirements keep shifting before a product ever reaches the customer. A lower factory price, she notes, does not automatically mean a lower landed cost once goods are sourced in one country, made in another and sold in yet another.

The conversation also covers how commerce intelligence and AI help retailers protect margins and set smarter cross border pricing, and why FlavorCloud's focus is helping brands turn international demand into profitable revenue.
