Tariff Update 

Tariffs began in earnest in March:  

  • March 3: The USA instituted 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada. The second round of tariffs on China was also implemented, resulting in a cumulative increase of 20%. 
  • March 4: Canada issued its first round of tariffs. China issued its second round of retaliatory tariffs on the US. 
  • March 6: The USA reduced Potash tariffs to 10% and made an exception for USMCA qualifying goods.  
  • March 12: The US imposed a 25% tariff on aluminum and steel globally, prompting announcements of possible retaliatory tariffs from the EU starting in April. 
  • March 13: Canada issued its second round of tariffs. 
  • March 20: China issued retaliatory tariffs on Canada in response to tariffs on Chinese Electric Vehicles instituted in the fall of 2024.
