Shipping to the Republic of Ireland: Eircode

As an ecommerce merchant, you must have accurate and reliable address information from your end consumers to deliver your goods. If you are selling or shipping to the Republic of Ireland, a national postcode system known as Eircode was introduced in July 2015 to improve the accuracy of deliveries.

An Eircode is a unique 7-character code consisting of letters and numbers assigned to every residential and business address in the country. It consists of a 3-character routing key to identifying the area and a 4-character unique identifier for each address.

While using Eircode is not compulsory, it is recommended to ensure the accuracy of deliveries. As an ecommerce merchant, requiring your end-consumers to provide their Eircode when purchasing from your store will help you deliver goods and services accurately and efficiently.
