The sales have always been there, and following our expansion into Canada and the UK, we began to explore opportunities in the Australian market utilizing FlavorCloud data. Mexico Tariff Increases

The Mexican government has introduced temporary import tariffs of 5% to 50% on 544 commodities, including various metals, chemicals, cardboard, textiles, clothing, wood & plastic products, footwear, ceramics, musical equipment, furniture, and more.

These tariffs are effective from April 23, 2024, to April 23, 2026, and aim to protect against unfair competition from countries without free trade agreements with Mexico.

Impacts to merchants include the additional fees on the commercial value of in-scope goods being imported into Mexico. This is on top of incumbent duty and VAT charges. FlavorCloud recommends that merchants review Mexican Government’s official gazette of impacted commoditiesto reevaluate your product and shipping costs if you are marketing in Mexico.

FedEx is making changes to their air network

Due to the loss of the USPS contract, FedEx is planning on changes to its air network. While cost-cutting often means fewer available routes and volume, we are not expecting this to affect FlavorCloud merchants.

Fedex will continue to prioritize Express shipments and meet demand. Flavorcloud continually monitors the carrier landscape to provide our clients with a best-in-class carrier network. Flavorcloud’s network of carriers provides built-in protection from potential service impacts related to a single carrier by providing carrier diversification and redundancy.

The concept of shipping insurance is nearly 4000 years old and appears in our oldest law codes. For example, The Code of Hammurabi mentions that a merchant could pay the lender a small fee as “insurance” to cancel the loan should the goods be stolen or lost at sea.
