Creating a draft order in Shopify with FlavorCloud DDP

Learn how to create a draft order in Shopify that’s ready to ship internationally with FlavorCloud DDP rates. This process works for both paid customer orders and complimentary influencer orders. 

Before you start 

Make sure your FlavorCloud app is installed and dynamic rates are active in Shopify Settings → Shipping and delivery.
This allows Shopify to display real-time DDP rates from FlavorCloud during order creation. 

Create a paid international draft order 

1. Go to Orders → Draft orders → Create order in your Shopify admin. 
2. Add your product(s) and enter your international customer’s address. 
3. Select Add shipping and delivery. 
4. FlavorCloud DDP rates will appear automatically. 
5. Choose the DDP rate you want to apply. 
6. The rate includes shipping, duties, taxes, and fees. 
7. Click Done and then Send invoice. 
8. The customer completes checkout through your payment gateway. 

Once paid, the order automatically syncs to FlavorCloud, ready for fulfillment.
If you use a 3PL, this step also ensures the correct DDP rate name passes through to your fulfillment system. 

Create an influencer or free order 

For influencer or no-charge shipments, you’ll follow a slightly different process. Read more about creating a sample or gift order for in depth detail.  For an overview of the process, follow these steps:

1. Create your draft order and add a tag like influencer or gift or sample. 
2. Apply a 100% discount to the product(s). 
3. To avoid shipping rate amounts, select or create a custom rate name (for example, International DDP Shipping). 
4. Set the rate to free shipping ($0). 
5. (If applicable) Before marking the order as paid, confirm with your 3PL that this rate name is mapped to FlavorCloud DDP in their WMS or automation rules. 

⚠️ If the rate name isn’t mapped, the order could ship DDU and the recipient would be charged duties and taxes on delivery. 

When everything looks good, mark the order as paid to create a fulfillable order. 

Rate and fulfill the order in FlavorCloud 

1. In the FlavorCloud dashboard, go to Orders → Unrated orders. 
2. Select the order and click Rate order. 
3. (Optional) Add insurance if you’re shipping directly with FlavorCloud. 
4. Choose your preferred service level and terms of trade (DDP). 
5. Click Fulfill to generate your international label and customs documentation. 

You can view the completed shipment under Shipments in your dashboard.
