Manage discounts in checkout
Overview
In order to show accurate landed costs, add the checkout extension: Discounts in your Shopify admin. Discounts is a Shopify checkout extension that ensures accurate landed cost calculations by incorporating discounts into the final price. Without this extension, FlavorCloud calculates duties and taxes based on the full retail price instead of the discounted amount. By enabling the checkout extension, Discounts, merchants can provide their customers with more precise total costs, reducing discrepancies and unexpected fees.
Limitations
The checkout extension is only available on the Shopify Plus plan due to limitations set by the Shopify team.
How to add the checkout extension Discounts to your Shopify checkout
Follow these steps to enable the checkout extension Discounts in Shopify:
Log in to your Shopify Admin.
Enable the extension in Shopify Checkout Settings by going to Settings > Checkout and select Customize.
You will be brought to the checkout editor, in this section select Apps and search for the FlavorCloud Disounts checkout extensions. Toggle it on.
Save your settings.
Test a transaction to ensure that the landed cost is correctly calculated based on the discounted total.
Discounts of 100%
If you are discounting an item up to 100% for a sample or gift, Discounts will send the full retail price to FlavorCloud for landed cost calculation. This is because at customs, gifts and samples fall under a very specific guidance to qualify and it does not extend to ecommerce merchants. Read more about Creating a sample or gift order.
